CrossFit Level 1 Certification

Fuck-yeah
Tonight I wrapped up and passed the CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification in Golden, CO. I knew I’d be satisfied when I passed, but I didn’t realize just how much I’d been thinking about this weekend. I have a couple additional posts in the works that outline my notes and thoughts for both of the training days, but I wanted to get a few things out there while they were fresh.

If you’re debating taking the training: stop. It’s worth every penny. Even if you opted to skip the exam, the amount of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm the instructors bring to the table is incredibly valuable. I say take the exam; it’s the same price as auditing the class and  that title is useful… fuck all it just feels good.

If you think you don’t have enough experience: stop. You’re over thinking it. There were a handful of people in the class who hadn’t been through one CrossFit workout. Ever. No idea if they passed the exam or not, but do you think they didn’t get anything out of it? I’ve been doing CrossFit long enough to cause some trouble, but I learned something new in every lecture and every break out session. I was never bored, and came away with a ton of new information. It absolutely has fueled my passion for what we do. The exam is such a small component of the weekend (and a re-test is relatively inexpensive at that). Experienced, inexperienced, it doesn’t matter. It’s a foundational education and the trainers approach it as such. Go into it with that in mind, and you’ll come away successful.

Day 1 notes coming soon.
